Nomological network

1Claim

The expected network of relationships between a construct's measure and other measures: which facets it should track, which nuisances it should ignore, and how it should relate to independent measures of the same and different constructs.

Handbook · ClaimConstructs, facets, and nuisancesDefine what the score should respond to, and just as carefully what it must ignore. Your nuisance list is your discriminant test plan.
Construct facet
A distinct dimension within a construct, used to build a content blueprint for the task population.
Nuisance variable
A property that should not materially move the score when the construct is held fixed, such as length, formatting, or assertive tone. The nuisance list is the discriminant test plan.
Discriminant evidence
Evidence that scores do not mainly track nuisance variables or distinct constructs, such as length or rhetorical confidence.
